Day 11 – Late Night Adventures

Today there really isn’t much to talk about. I woke up with a bad headache, so I took a nap and I pretty much slept all day. I finally woke up around 4 and my headache was gone. Two of my friends were at Tin Tin’s down the street, and they met up with me and I had a latte and a coconut ball.

For dinner, we did an Iron Chef thing where we went to the grocery store, bought a bunch of stuff and then went back to the hostel to make it. The only thing people were preparing was appetizers and dessert. Pizzas were ordered for dinner. The vegan option for an appetizer was spinach and artichoke dip—it was be best dip I’ve ever had. And for dinner, it was a fudge brownie with nuts. The vegan pizza was also the best pizza I’ve ever had. The cheeze was unlike any I’ve had in the United States and even the meat alternatives were so good.

After dinner, I went out with a girl named Peyton. She wanted to stop at a café down the street to take a picture of it for her blog. Unfortunately, it was more of a convenience store. Luckily, I remembered about the REAL Tin Tin café that’s open 24 hours. It was a commute, but we went! I really enjoy when people are up for the same spontaneous things as I am—things that other people would see as convenient. We took a tram and we got of at Chalmers, a college. I’m not sure why Google Maps took us this way, honestly. When we went back and when I was there the first time, days prior, the commute was way easier. So we got off at Chalmers and we had a long walk through dark alleys and up creepy staircases, which would have been fine, but it was around 9pm, dark out, and we didn’t have a man with us, as JJ had recommended we always leave with a man If we’re women. Thankfully, we didn’t need a man!

We got to the café and had coffee and just talked. It was our first time talking so we had a lot to talk about—about school, other J-Term trips, relationships, sorority things since I have no idea about those, the current trip, etc. To be even more spontaneous, we went to McDonald’s because I want to eat as many of their fries as possible before leaving and going back to the United States where McDonald’s seasons their fries with beef fat (don’t ask me why).

After McDonald’s, we went back to the tram and the directions were confusing. Thankfully, there was a MAN outside that helped us find our stop. I don’t know what we would have done without him.
