Today was one of the days that I didn’t do much. I woke up and went to breakfast as usual. I got ready in case I found anything to do or anyone to do something with. JJ invited me to lunch and I don’t like to turn down invitations, so I went. We met up with Susie, JJ’s wife and a few students. We went to an old firehouse that turned into a food court type place, where there were different restaurants in different stands. Unfortunately, there were no vegan meals at any of the restaurants. The closest thing was a tiny salad bar consisting of spinach and lima beans. I had to pass on those.

After being denied (by JJ) the request to stop at the vegan restaurant right next door, and after being told that I can just eat dinner in 6 hours, AND after being told that I was being too difficult with my dietary needs, I tagged along with Jan and Susie to go shopping.

We went to Jantorget, and something interesting was there was a protest going on—a peaceful protest. Nobody was chanting or anything. Everybody was just holding signs. They were protesting 5G. I really don’t understand it. I think it’s the 5G used by cellphone companies. One woman stopped to talk to us about it and she said when they introduced 3G, everyone started getting sick and can’t leave the house or take care of themselves anymore. This still confuses me because we have 5G in the United States, and I think everybody has been fine. She gave me a brochure on it, but it’s in Swedish. So maybe when I have the time to translate it, I’ll have a better understanding and come back and update this post with a better explanation.

Luckily, there was a food truck right where we were shopping and they had a vegan option. I’m happy it was so conveniently located because I would hate to be “too difficult” as I was previously accused of being.
We stopped at a bookstore, and I decided to buy a Swedish novel. It’s a mystery novel out of the teen section, but since I’m trying to get better at Swedish, I think it’s a good idea to take the time and go through and translate everything I don’t know and hopefully this will help me improve. Maybe by the time I’m towards the end of the book, I can just read it without translating it.
Dinner was interesting. Instead of ordering their own plates, a bunch of random dishes were ordered and people just picked from each other’s. I didn’t really understand the point of that, but luckily, I had my own dish and it was actually really great. As always, photos are on my vegan page!
To end the night, I went out with a group of students for the first time and it ended up being a lot of fun! I’m happy I went.
